A Very Sad Day
It is with deep sadness that I pass on the news that Mike passed away this morning. Tracy and Karen are currently organizing a counselor for the active Staters. Details will surely be coming, and I will do my best to pass them on. My hope is that I will be able to attend the funeral.

Mike
If the news about Mike has been as big of a shock for you as it has been for me, I'm sure you're still trying to swallow such a surreal reality. I spoke with Tracy and she said flowers would be lovely. So, upon getting more information about how long Mike will be at Riverside and where he'll be receiving hospice care, I'd like to see if anyone would be interested in going in on a larger flower arrangement or something along those lines. Clearly, Mike had a very meaningful role in each of our OSU experiences. I just thought it might be nice if we coordinated some way of communicating that to him.
Hope everyone is doing well.

New job, South 40, and football games
A quick update, since it’s been a long time and there a few pieces of good news to share…
Friday I completed the Edison Development Program with GE (done with 6 month rotations and internal classes), and tomorrow I start my off-program role working in refrigeration development. I now officially have my Six Sigma greenbelt (an exclusive club as 30 Rock fans can attest: http://www.nbc.com/30-rock/exclusives/donaghy-uncovered/2009/11/six-sigma/). I’ve been doubling up on classes Spring and this summer semester and plan to do the same this Fall to complete my masters in December. It’s been hellish, but will hopefully be worthwhile when I’m done.
As a recap, South 40 was a great time as always, although many of you were missed. Conroy and Joel made it up Friday night. I remember parts of the good times, most importantly my Mom icing Joel (If you don’t know what Bros Icing Bros is yet, please reference: http://www.icedyou.com/). Thanks to Megan for tolerating and corralling us. One of my sister’s friends puked Saturday, so for the first year in a long while, I wasn’t responsible for the biggest shit show... excluding Joel’s pre-party performance. Next year I have 2 weddings conflicting on that date, but my cousin’s reception is at Ole Zimm’s, so the party goes on!
In other news, I’m trying to figure out which football games to come back for. The ME alumni game is on Sept 11 against Miami - AWESOME - and Homecoming against Purdue is Oct 23 (I may have a wedding conflict). Drop me a note or comment if you’re planning on attending any games. I’m very excited about the upcoming 75th reunion- great things happen when you assemble this crew.
PS: We’re having a surprise 49 ¾ birthday surprise party for my dad this weekend. If anyone’s up for a party in Fremont, I’ll be there! I've perfected recipes for Manhattan and Long Island Iced Tea jello shots for the occasion.
